Reed Morano is an American cinematographer and award winning director, shooting and directing her own work, and is known for her cinematography on various feature films, which often premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
Along with cinematography, Reed has been Director of Photography (DP) on various commercials and music videos, and was DP on her first directorial feature, the drama Meadowland. Some of her films include: Frozen River, Kill Your Darlings, Halt and Catch Fire, and most recently, I Think We're Alone Now. Murano became the youngest member of the American Society of Cinematographers, and has won both the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Dramatic Series and the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for The Handmaid’s Tale. As a groundbreaking filmmaker, she has been named one of Variety's "10 Cinematographers to Watch", one of ioncinema.com's "American New Wave 25", and one of five innovative cinematographers in ICG Magazine's "Generation Next" Spotlight.
“There are many legendary DPs that I admire, some of whom have a very strong signature but I'm not sure I want to be the DP where you see my work and say oh, Reed shot that. I hope to be able to adopt to every movie and disappear into it.” - Reed Morano
